Goodbye, Farewell

Captian’s Log stargate:0239182. This is my final post, I learn many things from this course, like the origns of the E-mail, The memex is a big desk that was thought up from a brilliant man and  the first video game was tennis. I don’t like admit emotion. . . But i’m going to miss this class. With the random outburst from certain indivisuals, to the funny comments made by others and the witty ideas that popped out of every bodies head. As well as the professor’s keen intellect and vulcan hearing from across the room. Still think he had a wire but hey, who am I to make random thoughts.

But on all serious, This class wasn’t that bad. Walking everyday to class and sitting in the back and just taking in the information our professor had to tell us was kool. I was impressed with the high energy distributed from my other classmates. Most classes in the morning don’t get much enthusiasm. The blogs were pretty interesting to hear what others had to say and how they felt about the topic. I was very proud of the presentations that everybody did because it showed every bodies creativity. The class was fun and not a bad experience. Hope every body passes.

Video Games

So, this week in class, we are discussing on the greatest subject that has been never spoken in class. . . Video games. Our professor tells us of the early origins of. . . The Video Game. From a funny looking game of Tennis to Pacman, the list goes on and on. We also learn that some people in the class has either many game consoles or has spent an insane amount of hours of video games. Now, I’m not gonna be stingy, I admit, I may have put some hours into the game consoles myself.

I think that it’s tight that we are learning about the origin of video games. Some may think that is it kinda boring but I think that we must learn the past so we can be gratefull for our future. It’s kinda sad that we only had to learn a week about video games, I would have gone the whole semester. But I heard from random sources that the final will consist o nothing but video games as far as the eye can see. I guess we can only wait(and pray) to find out.

The Patriotic Nigras

The reading on line was pretty interesting. I’m kinda sad I didn’t read it and discuss it in class today. The interesting part was that a group of hackers was able to corrupt the system that easily in that short amount of hours. Forgive me but I think that kinda tight. Reminds me of the movie the social network when Jesse’s character brought down the yale computer system in a couple of hours. Now, yes I kno it’s wrong, but at the same time it’s incredible.

And the fact that the victims was 2nd life was pretty darn impressive. I don’t admit it much but I have a “ignant” side and I think that’s hilarious. The fact that the only reason they did it was to upset and create a stir out of people is a little funny to me. I know it’s annoying to do that to people but come on. If one of my boys was playing a game online and this happen to him, I would be dying. To some people, online gaming is a joke. I don’t know why they think that, but they do. It’s just another part of life and it’s crazy methods. That’s all folks.

Digital Future Project

The article that we were supposed to read in class and discuss tomorrow in class was a little interesting. I wasn’t aware that internet users that are 16 years and older are worried that companies are checking on their actions on-line. I thought that the only thing they would be worried about is school gossip ad whatnot. But I was impressed about the statics this article came up with. I can’t tell if it’s pretty accurate but it does a fine job on percentages.

And the second article was kinda typical. The fact that there are more men then women on the internet is kinda of a given. Of course there is more men users than women, it’s common sense. And the age difference is also a no brainer. Of course the average age would be young adult. Most adults that are 24 and above would be making better use of their time. But, overall, the articles wasn’t a bad read and I wonder how the discussion will go on class on Friday.

Net N

Okay, the article we were suppose to read isn’t that bad. Now I agree it sounds like stereo instructions, but the topic is very clear to some people. The idea of equality in the internet is not a bad idea. The world has a hard enough time to share some ideals, why not have the internet do it for us? The only thing that scared me was the involvement of the FCC. Now granted that the FCC isn’t that bad of an organization, they still frighten me a little. I’m judging my statement from the Family Guy episode entitled, PTV.

But I wonder how long it will last, sad thing about society that peace doesn’t last very long. There are some that like to watch the world burn. I wouldn’t be surprised that the internet will just be another example. And the hard thing to grasp is how to find a way to try to stop it, I don’t think we have the needs to stop it if it happens. But, I only pray that we will find a way, before it is too late. . .

Presentations 2

ello Friends, New presentations happening this week and I gotta tell ya, I’m impressed. Yes, some of them have been kinda dry, but others have been very impressive. The Cyber-bulling was very good and the micro-blogging was very well done too. The others, I learned a lil som som from it (sky chuckles). Wondering how tomorrow will go. I wish U guys luck.

Presantations

So, the first day of presentations went very well. . . I think. I hope that I was able to inform others on the memex and Dr. Bush’s dreams. I was a little nervous at first and didn’t pronounce some words clearly. Also forgot a slide, hope that it doesn’t affect my progress in the class too bad. But, I had fun writing it up, not ready for another one but am ready for more on friday.

I liked the first presenter yesterday, Her’s was very clear and kool. Every time she said something important, I would smile cuz I really liked it. The third presenter was kool as well. The E-mail process always interest me and I was very glad to see it explained. And the video with netflix on E-mail sounds like a good idea, I always get E-mails from them asking me to come back. I want to Netflix, soon as I get money. The last presentation was interesting. I learn a lil bit from it. Can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow. Good Luck Ya’ll.

Kevin Bacon

Our professor showed us this documentary about networks and how we are all connected. It was a pretty interesting doc. I honestly didn’t think the package would be sent to different countries around the world and delivered. It really surprised me. And the more interesting part was that Actor Kevin Bacon was the center attention of it all.

Some more questions popped into my head like HUBS. So, Hubs are like the interlocking pools that connects the beginning and the end right? And is it really true that Dennis Hopper, (think the name is right) is the main center for movies. Our professor told us this and I admit, he was a pretty good King Koopa in the MARIO BROS MOVIE, I don’t think he is. Even though our professor told he was in like 50 different movies. Don’t see how it is possible. I still think it’s Jhonny Depp. Sorry for spelling his name wrong.

Abraham Biggs

Our professor in Interactive media told us the stories of four suicide deaths. The victim’s name was Abraham Biggs. This young man killed himself infront of a live cam called Justin.tv. He told his viewers that he would kill himself by taking pills. He told his viewers at 3-A.M and the camera still kept rolling twelve hours later.

At First when Our professor told us the story, I had little sympathy because I thought the brotha just wanted attention. And I went to further investigate on the situation and to my shock from the huffingtonpost, The brotha has tried this stunt twice. But then I continued reading and learn that the brotha had a bipolar disorder or was manic depression. Now, I feel sorry for the brother. . . A little. But to defend the viewers a lil, If he tried this stunt before, then of course people would haved egged him on. Society always want a show, we see it everyday in television, news and even in the streets. Or for some of us, some neighborhoods. If there’s action, A group of people would stop what they were doin and see wat the comotion is all about and watch it instead of stopping it. The World is a cruel place, one option we can do is just accept it.

Catfish

So, from September 19th to the 21st, Our professor allowed the students to view a film documentry called “Catfish.” The film portrays a young adult named Nev who is a talented photographer. He interacts with a nine-year-old who is very gifted in painting. He then meets the mother and sister and becomes romantically involved in her 23-year-old sister. Later in the story, Nev and his two friends begins a journey to visit the mysterious family. When they arrive at the house, they find out that everything is not always what it seems.

The Movie wasn’t bad but was highly disappointing. The “sister” turn out to be a old women who is married to what looks like a slow truck driver and takes care of the little girl who never drew anything spectacular in her life and two handicapped boys. The arrival at the house reminded me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I was expecting a tall man with a messed up face and a chainsaw to kill the three gentleman. And to make things worse, when the mother admits her mistake, she cries to him. I don’t do human sympathy very well but that was downright pathetic. And she even wrote nasty ass text messages to the brother. In the words of Joe from the Madea play’s. 1-800-choke-that-hoe.
